PHILOSOPHY OF DETACHED ACTION AS PER SHRIMAD BHAGWADGITA

0

According to Shrimad Bhagwadgita published by Gita Press, Gorakhpur in 1949, this scripture has assumed a position of universal interest and appreciation, not only in India but far beyond its borders.  Even at that time it had more than 800 editions of the scripture, published in more than 25 languages. By now, more than half a century after that date it must have many more editions in many more languages.

It is because its philosophy of DETACHED ACTION propounded in it by the incorporeal God-father, has been found to be ideal for family and community life containing as it does highest esoteric doctrines, besides being the essence of Vedas and as such is acclaimed as the supreme scripture.  In essence the sense of doer ship and attachment has to be given up with regard to all activities of the mind, senses and body, and one has to realize that he is merely an instrument of God, who is the real doer.

Man does not reach perfection without entering upon action nor does he reach it (culmination of path of Knowledge) merely by .renunciation of action .(III/4).  Action is superior to inaction.(III/8).  You perform your actions, free from attachment for the sake of sacrifice alone.(III/9). Doing work without attachment, man attains the Supreme..(III/19)

LUST AND ANGER

It is the lust, it is wrath, begotten of the element of Rajas, insatiable and grossly wicked; know this to be the real enemy of mankind.(III/37) As the flame is enveloped by smoke, mirror by dirt and embryo by the amnion(womb)  so the living entity is covered by different degrees of lust (III/38).

Thus the pure consciousness becomes covered by this eternal enemy in the form of lust, which is never satisfied and burns like fire..(III/39)     The senses, the mind and the intellect are its sitting places.  Through them it covers the real knowledge of the living entity and bewilders him(III/40).

Therefore O, Arjuna, in the very beginning curb this great symbol of sin (lust) by regulating the senses, and by any means, slay this destroyer of knowledge and self-realization. Thus, O Arjun, realizing yourself to be soul, higher than even the intellect  and subduing the mind by reason, kill this enemy in the form of Lust, by all means,

Arjun, whenever there is decline of righteousness, and unrighteousness becomes predominant, then I body Myself forth, through My own Yogamaya (divine potency), keeping My nature (Prikirti) under control (IV/6 & 7) for the protection of the virtuous devotees and saints;  for the destruction of evil-doers and  for re-establishing righteousness or Sat-dharma in the society on a firm footing.(IV/8).

It may be noted in this context that Incorporeal Supreme Soul, God-father is the spiritual father of all souls and when He descends on P.P.Brahma at the  end of Iron Age to re-establish New Golden Age, He blesses His adopted children with Mukti and Jeewanmukti through His divine new Knowledge of Raja-yoga.

Thus Mritulok which Bharat was in Iron Age is converted. into Devlok where deities live in flesh and blood.. He says that Arjun, My birth and  actions are unique and divine, and even though  I am acting through the body of My medium, I am wholly distinct from him.(IV/9).

BHAKTI

Arjun, in whatever manner devotees approach or seek me, I reward them accordingly.(IV/11) Men in this world, desire success in fruit-yielding   activities .  and worship the demigods (devtas) and men get success born of their these actions quickly.(IV/12)  Since I do not aspire for fruits of My actions, they do not contaminate Me.(IV/14).

ESOTERIC DEEP PHILOSOPHY OF ACTIONS

Even the intelligent are bewildered in determining what is action and what is not action, knowing which you will be freed from the binding nature (evil effects) of actions (IV/16). The intricacies of action are very hard to understand.

Therefore, one must know properly what action is, what forbidden action is and inaction is?(IV/17) He who sees inaction in action and action in inaction, is wise among men and is a Yogi, although he is engaged in all sorts of activities.

(IV/19). One is thought to be wise and real knowledgeful  whose every endeavor is devoid of desire for sense gratification.  The reaction to his actions is burnt by the power of this Real knowledge (IV/19), . abandoning all attachment to the results of his actions, ever satisfied and independent, he performs no fruit-yielding action, although he be engaged in all kinds of positive activities (IV/20).

Such a man of wisdom acts with mind and intelligence perfectly controlled, gives up all objects of enjoyment and cravings  and also sense of doership and ownership over his possessions, and  performs sheer bodily actions in a detached manner, and is contented with whatever he gets, is free from envy and has transcended all pairs of opposites like joy and grief, praise or ignominy, success or failure etc; such a Karmayogi, even while acting throughout the day, does not get bound  by actions (IV/21-.22)..

SACRIFICES & KARAMKAND

One who works for the sake of sacrifice, all his actions melt away.(IV/23). There are different forms of sacrifices; know them all  as begotten of the actions of body, mind and the senses (IV/32).   Arjun, sacrifice performed in the form of acquiring spiritual Knowledge is superior to all varieties of sacrifices performed with material things (IV33).

Arjun, attain this spiritual Knowledge by all means.(IV34). This will remove your delusion (IV-35).  Even if you are the most sinful of all sinners, you will cross  over sin by the raft of Knowledge (IV/36),  for as the blazing fire reduces the fuel to ashes, even so the fire of Knowledge reduces all actions to ashes (IV/37).  In this world there is no purifier like spiritual Knowledge.(IV/38).

Among the. Devotees, some worship the demigods, some others worship their ancestors, and  yet others worship ghosts and spirits.  Those who worship the demigods will take   their next birth among the demigods; those who worship the ancestors, will be reborn in their family and those who worship ghosts etc, will take birth among such beings but those who worship Me, the incorporeal, will attain Me. and go back to sweet Silence Home with Me.(IX/25).

It would thus be observed that the best form of sacrifice and even devotion is to acquire real spiritual Knowledge, being presently imparted by the beloved-most incorporeal God-father SHIVA through his corporeal Prajapita Brahma the Adi-deva or Bhagirath (bhagyashali vehicle or body) who as per scriptures brought Gyan Ganga in Bharat which revived lakhs of children of God-father SHIVA, who had  become stones or Patthar-budhhi and were unable to recognize the truth about self, God and the world cycle  This liberates from all bondages and enables us to become spiritualised, pure and divine and then retur4n to our Sweet Home (called Mukti) and then enter Heaven in Bharat called Jeewanmukti.

You are whole heartedly welcome to
Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya
