Social service initiatives call for a vision and mission with a difference from the traditional parameters. A new thinking is required for administering social service initiatives in the changing times. The emerging world scenario provides innumerable choices for people with employment opportunities, various avocations and occupations, innumerable choices for goods and services to enjoy life.
The globalisation and liberalisation have thrown open the obstacle doors which restricted the mobility of goods, services and money. With the advent of information technology, telecommunication net work and entertainment industry being at its peak, opportunity for employment and financial earning opportunities of people have increased manifold.
In the existing world situation, as observed by Schophener, the great German philosopher that, ‘man who has thrown away all his burdens has now become a burden to himself’. Here a paradigm shift in social service initiatives is very necessary.
In the fast changing world situation, the social service should cover all social segments, the poor, the rich, the educated, the uneducated, the man at the helm of affairs and the man on the street. There is a widespread famine and resultant poverty of mental peace, mental stability, integrity, loveful countenance, commitment, and better inter human relationship.
There is an overall awareness that more than material support, people require something unseen but very much deeply felt pleasant experiences. Therefore, a set of cognitive, intuitive and spiritual/piacular based service initiatives should be set in motion as social service tools.
Self confidence building exercise
A person doing business sustains loss and losses his self confidence, a student fails in examinations instantly losses self confidence, a job seeker after attending some interviews losses self confidence. Such a situation is there in all fields of life. People have come to loss self confidence as a natural sequence of an unfavourable situation.
They develop doubt in themselves, others and the forces of nature. There is an uncertainty and indefiniteness in their thoughts, words and actions. Self confidence is an offshoot of the awareness of one’s own greatness. The dire need is to make one aware of the fact of his own plus points, his immortal personality, immortal entity, and immortal existence and the capacity of his thoughts.
The awareness of the immortal self existence and its related influence over men and matters of the world is the inner energy which reinforces self confidence. This awareness is the prime mover and shaker of world situations. This awareness should be watered and manured with the power of words and thoughts – the thoughts of well being and pure feelings.
The social servants
thoughts of others well being and good intentions have the power to build and
strengthen self confidence in others.
Once self confidence is built up, he will stand up and say that not only
that he
can take care of himself but also he can take care of many others. Our
thoughts and feelings do affect other people’s behaviour.
Sowing
A thought can be given as an infection or as an affection to people. All kinds of search, research, vocabularies and words of wisdom and goodness should be empowered with the power of silence and spiritual power. Silence of the mind and spiritual power in those who are in the field of social service is the life force which invigorates the materialisation of the visualisation/imagination, tracking and fanning process.
It is not only that the service is aimed unto one or a group of people, but such people should also be triggered and inspired to hasten the process of positive transformation in the world. Ultimately, the social servants will be creating equally or more powerful social servants who will by virtue of their new found knowledge and wisdom and the fruitful consequence of such a service, volunteer to hasten the process of social service with a difference in the world.
